Method

An arrival is one entry by a non-resident tourist who stays at least one night, by air or sea; someone who comes twice counts twice. Same-day cruise passengers, crews, and people coming to work, study or settle are not counted (SLTDA, Annual Statistical Report 2023, p.9).

Changes and shares are worked out from the counts. Airport and airline shares are the SLTDA’s own percentages. figures are the SLTDA’s current sheet, which it replaces each month. No percentage change is worked out against or against fewer than 100 arrivals.

Yearly figures are as the SLTDA prints them in its annual reports. Shares by market and region are worked out from its counts. A year with no printed figure is left as a gap, never a zero. Rupees are as printed, not adjusted for inflation.
